 Services Offered at the Saint Paul Campus (Revised 12/19/05) 

Phone Numbers: The Saint Paul Campus information desk can be reached by calling 651-793-1212, Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The Saint Paul security officer can be reached at 651-775-0444, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.; on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

General Information: The Saint Paul Campus information desk is located in the main lobby of Founders Hall and staffed Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Classroom Scheduling: During the first two weeks of classes, the Scheduling Office staff will be available Monday through Thursday until 7 p.m. to assist you with any immediate scheduling needs; call 651-793-1700 for assistance. 

College Support: The College of Arts and Sciences is located in St. John’s Hall on the third floor; the office manager can be reached at 651-793-1442.  The College of Professional Studies is located in Saint John’s Hall on the second floor; the office manager can be reached at 651-793-1332.  First College is located in St. John’s Hall on the first floor; the office manager can be reached at 651-793-1782.  The School of Nursing is located in St. John’s Hall on the first floor; the office manager can be reached at 651-793-1380. 

Meeting Rooms: Most colleges/schools/divisions also have a conference room, (First College, School of Nursing, College of Professional Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, Admissions, and Human Resources).  To make arrangements to use any of these rooms, you must contact the college/school/division directly.  In addition, the Saint Paul Room (formerly the New Main Community Room) and Senior Seminar Room can be reserved by calling 651-793-1911.  Classrooms are also available for meetings as well as the Great Hall, Founder’s Hall Auditorium, Founders Hall Reception area, the Ecolab Community Room, the Foundation Board Room, and the Edwards Memorial Trust Room.  To reserve a classroom, email Connie.Keithahn@metrostate.edu..  To schedule a special event, contact Diane.Kromer@metrostate.edu 

Room Temperature: If at any time you experience a temperature control problem call 651-793-1700.  After office hours or on weekends, an answering service will take your call and contact the appropriate staff member. 

Copy Services:  Copy services are available within each of the colleges/schools; contact the appropriate office for hours and procedures.  There is a public copier located in New Main on lower level on the south end near the elevator and steps and on the second floor of the Library by the circulation desk.  Faculty and staff may access this copier by using their Metropolitan State I.D. card.  The cost of the copying is charged back to the appropriate college/department.  Students may access this copier by coin operation. 

 

Instructional Resources Equipment Requests:  All classrooms are equipped with a whiteboard, markers, erasers, and a permanently mounted projection screen.  Instructors may request other equipment, such as a computer, LCD projector, TV/VCR unit, etc., by completing an electronic equipment request form.  The Media Request Form may be accessed by: login to the NetDirect Portal, click on Visit IT and click Forms and Policies. Minimum notice for instructional resource equipment requests is two full working days (Monday-Friday).  Equipment problems should be reported to 651-793-1240 or it.desk@metrostate.edu. 

Media Requests: Video booking requests must now be made through Library and Information Services by calling 651-793-1616.  Media requests should be made well in advance to allow for inter campus delivery to the appropriate library for pickup. 

The Library and Learning Center:  The Library and Learning Center is the primary library for Metropolitan State University.  It includes a non-circulating core collection of reference resources and periodicals, and a collection of thousands of books, DVD’s and videos that can be checked-out by Metropolitan State and community library card holders for use at home.  It is open seven days a week: call 651-793-1634 for current hours.  Professional research assistance is provided Monday through Saturday.  Outside regular library hours, all electronic databases are available to students and faculty 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.  For more information call 651-793-1616 or go to http://www.metrostate.edu/library/index.html. 

Computer Center: 78 public access computer workstations are available on the first floor of the Library and Learning Center.  24 computers with extended workspace and privacy are available on the second floor. 

Center for Academic Excellence:  Located in room 130 on the first floor of the Library and Learning Center.

The Center houses the Writing and Math Centers.  Students may receive individualized assistance by appointment.  Drop-ins are also welcome. 

Security and Escort Services: The Saint Paul Campus security officer can be reached at 651-775-0444 (cell phone).  Security staff is responsible for general safety, locking and unlocking doors, escort service, key related issues, and assistance with audiovisual requests, severe weather information, lighting issues, lost and found, power outages, fire alarm response, and other general security/safety items.  Dialing **11 at the St. Paul campus phone will connect you with the safety officer.  

Emergency and Mobility-impaired Occupants: All building occupants should be directed to the stairwells in the event of a fire emergency.  If you have a mobility-impaired person in your class, designate two people to assist that person in the event of an emergency.  One moves the mobility-impaired person to a stairwell and remains with him/her; the other informs the security officer who will in turn ask the fire department to evacuate that person.  During power outages, one person should go with the person to an area with emergency lighting and the other person should contact the security officer.  Please note the Evacuation Plans located throughout the university, which include procedures related to emergencies, evacuations and severe weather. 

Weather Emergencies:  Cancellations due to weather or other occurrences are announced on WCCO Radio AM 830 and WCCO Television, and are posted on the Metropolitan State home page at www.metrostate.edu.
